Vengo persiguiendo a Yil desde que tuve la idea de hacer este blog, o sea 2019!. Como la situación país ha sido muy complicada he estado entrevistado a los dibujantes por whatsapp, pero Yil se me ha escapado varias veces y de hecho hace tiempo que no la vemos participar en el grupo, por lo que ha sido complicado atraparla en persona, me prometió que me enviaría las respuestas a mis preguntas, así que esperé.
Ojo No es que sea obligatorio salir en este blog, pero mi misión es dejar por escrito todo lo relacionado con el grupo, por lo que tengo paciencia, hay dibujantes interesantes que me gustaría conocieran y uno de ellos es Yil.
En estos días Yil me envió mensajes sobre intereses en común, arte por supuesto, así que estuvimos un buen rato chateando y pagó su deuda como había prometido.

Yil pertenece al grupo original de los USKCCS (Dibujantes Urbanos Caracas). Como la mayoría de ellos, se integró al grupo a partir del Evento patrocinado por Faber Castell , "Dibuja Caracas", mencionado en entradas anteriores sobre la formación del grupo.
Yil comenzó a dibujar desde pequeña:
..."dibujo desde que tengo uso de razón, recuerdo inclusivecuando nos íbamos de vacaciones escolares - tenia unos tíos que vivían en el estado Falcón - alquilaban una casa e invitaban a toda la familia, mi familia es de Maracaibo. De esos viajes recuerdo claramente que mi mamá por supuesto, se encargaba de lo que era ropa y maletas, en fin, pero yo, créeme que a mi no me podía faltar el block de dibujo, el lápiz y el borrador, mi cartuchera del colegio, porque siempre me la llevaba así no hiciera una raya, pero era como indispensable, además como tu sabes, los atardeceres de Falcón son bellísimos y eventualmente hacía sketching sin saber, hacía dibujo urbano sin saber, representaba lo que veía, una playa, o en los campos petroleros, un atardecer, un anochecer, en fin eso en principio."

"Supe de los USKCCS una vez viendo el periódico y leí lo del evento Dibuja Caracas, por supuesto a mi me llamaba la atención. Previo a ese evento, ya tenía conocimiento de dibujo porque una vez finalizado el bachillerato empecé a estudiar Arquitectura con la finalidad de hacer los 2 o 3 semestres principales para luego poder entrar a la mención diseño, fue un fracaso porque yo venia de un bachillerato de Humanidades, por lo que evidentemente no tenia idea de lo que era un escalímetro, una escala, nada...aprendí muchas cosas técnicas pero no era lo que a mí me gustaba...cambié a Diseño Gráfico estuve 4 semestres y me retiré por la situación país y no culminé la carrera"

Yil se dedica simultáneamente a realizar libretas artesanales, que debo decir son espectaculares, muy originales, con ensamblaje, resinas, objetos diversos. Luego del evento Dibuja Caracas, Yil se sigue reuniendo con el grupo que se formó a raíz justamente de ese evento.
" yo continúo asistiendo a las reuniones del grupo, por la convocatoria de Max (líder actual de USKCCS) que de alguna manera fue el que hizo que nos siguiéramos reuniendo, a partir de allí, por supuesto, fue maravilloso, porque nos hicimos una comunidad, nos hicimos una hermandad...también he hecho rutas independientemente del grupo, siempre tratando de plasmar lo que no solamente vemos sino también nuestro acervo cultural...en fin, muchos dibujos tratando también de poner a su vez al mismo grupo de dibujo, otras opciones para poder dibujar y dar a conocer las maravillas que muchas veces no vemos por estar en contínuo movimiento en la calle".

"Mientras estuve con el grupo fue fascinante, era alucinante porque todas las rutas - en ese momento estábamos empezando - eran un nuevo reto, era un ensimismamiento, como si fuéramos una especie de traductor, por lo menos así lo sentí yo. Yo necesito traducir a través de mis dibujos y mis manos, conectar mis ojos y mis manos para poder traducir una ciudad o a un grupo de personas que no salen o no ven lo que yo puedo ver a través de esas salidas y, a través de sitios donde ya mucha gente no estaba llegando por la situación país, por ejemplo hay mucha gente que ya no llega al centro de Caracas..entonces para mi fue una labor, una tarea de ser cronista de mi ciudad ante el espectador. "

En algunas ocasiones Yil colocaba algunas reseñas históricas referente al sitio que dibujaba, para ella era su aporte social para dar a conocer a la ciudad, lo que muchos no veían o no se atrevían a ver, como dice ella. Yo diría que también por desconocer el lugar, hay mucha gente que vive en Caracas que no la conoce, pero yo siento que eso está cambiando. Yo creo que todo ese cambio lo trajo lo que hemos vivido los últimos 20 años como país y eso es genial, conectar con nuestra ciudad, con nuestro entorno.

I have been chasing Yil since I had the idea of doing this blog, that is 2019 !. As the country situation has been very complicated, I have been interviewing the sketchers on WhatsApp, but Yil has escaped me several times and in fact it has been a long time since we have seen her participate in the group, so it has been difficult to catch her in person. She promised that she would send me the answers to my questions, so I waited.

Recently Yil sent me messages about common interests, art of course, so we chatted for a long time and she paid her debt as she had promised.
Yil belongs to the original group of the USKCCS (Caracas Urban Cartoonists). Like most of them, she joined the group from the Event sponsored by Faber Castell, "Draw Caracas", mentioned in previous posts about the formation of the group.
Yil started drawing from a young age:
... "I have been drawing since I can remember, I even remember when we were going on school vacations - I had some uncles who lived in the Falcón state - they rented a house and invited the whole family, my family is from Maracaibo. I remember those trips clearly, my mother, of course, took care of what was clothes and suitcases, anyway, but believe me, I could not miss the drawing pad, the pencil and the eraser, my school pencil case, because I always have it with me, even if I didn't make a line, but it was as indispensable, besides as you know, Falcón's sunsets are beautiful and eventually I sketched without knowing, I did urban drawing without knowing, I represented what I saw, a beach, or in the oil fields , a sunset, a sunrise ..."
"I heard about the USKCCS once I read the newspaper about the event Draw Caracas, of course it caught my attention. Prior to that event, I already had knowledge of drawing because once I finished high school I began to study Architecture with the purpose to do the 2 or 3 main semesters and then be able to enter the design mention, it was a failure because I came from a Humanities high school degree, so obviously I had no idea what a staircase, a scale, nothing was ... I learned a lot of technical things but it was not what I liked ... I changed to Graphic Design, I spent 4 semesters and I retired due to the country situation and I did not finish my degree "
Yil is simultaneously dedicated to making handmade notebooks, which I must say are spectacular, very original, with assembly, resins, various objects. After the Draw Caracas event, Yil continues to meet with the group that was formed precisely as a result of that event.
"I continue to attend the group meetings, at the call of Max (current USKCCS leader) who in some way was the one that made us continue to meet, from there, of course, it was wonderful, because we became a community , we became a brotherhood ... I have also made routes independently of the group, always trying to capture what we not only see but also our cultural heritage ... in short, many drawings also trying to put the same drawing group at the same time , other options to be able to draw and make known the wonders that many times we do not see because we are in continuous movement in the street ".
"While I was with the group it was fascinating, it was amazing because all the routes - at that moment we were starting - were a new challenge, it was a self-absorption, as if we were a kind of translator, at least that's how I felt. I need to translate through my drawings and my hands, connect my eyes and my hands to be able to translate a city or a group of people who do not go out or do not see what I can see through those exits and, through places where already many people were not arriving because of the country's situation, for example there are many people who no longer reach downtown Caracas ... so for me it was a job, a task of being a chronicler of my city before the viewer. "
On some occasions Yil posted some historical reviews regarding the site that she drew, for her it was her social contribution to make the city known, which many did not see or did not dare to see, as she says. I would say that also because people do not know the place, there are many people who live in Caracas who do not know it, but I feel that that is changing. I think that all that change was brought about by what we have experienced the last 20 years as a country and that's great, connecting with our city, with our environment.
Currently Yil continues to draw, and works as a Human Resources analyst in a pharmaceutical company.
