Alba Judith Rodriguez

Alba Judith es de Colombia, lleva viviendo en Venezuela desde 11 de Febrero de 1978, así con la fecha exacta, vamos que con su característico acento es Venezolana pues!

Con Judith -la menciono por su segundo nombre porque no le gusta que le digan Alba- procedí igual como con Esmeralda, a punta de audio de whatsapp, fotos por chat, etc., logre armar este artículo sobre ella. Y es que Judith es parte de los dibujantes que pertenecen a la diáspora venezolana.

Judith estudió en Bogotá y tiene Licenciatura en Diseño Gráfico y Pedagogía del arte. Aquí en Venezuela se dedicó a ayudar a su esposo con su negocio que era carpintería, aplicando sus conocimientos en esa área. Tuvo tres hijos así que su vida entre su familia y el negocio le impedían concentrarse en el dibujo que tanto le gustaba. Sin embargo de una u otra manera, intentaba hacer cosas que involucraran el dibujo tal como estampar franelas con sus diseños. Una vez queda viuda, Judith se vio en la obligación de meterse de lleno en la carpintería administrándola, diseñando muebles para sus clientes.

"...tenia que ser todo, jefe, obrero, quien dirigía, quien iba a comprar madera, quien estaba pendiente de los diseños, del cliente y de los obreros, y todo eso y trabajar como un burro y ya, pero bueno adquirí experiencias muy buenas, desde aprender a hacer muebles, construirlos, pintarlos y manejar herramientas que nunca había manejado. Pero salí adelante, y trabajé en eso durante 18 años seguidos y mis hijos salieron adelante" 

Después de muchos años en el área de la carpintería, Judith decide cerrarla y tiempo después tanto ella como sus hijos emigran por la situación país.

"...no nos fuimos porque queríamos irnos de allá, sino porque la situación nos obligó, tengo un hijo en Argentina, el otro está en Madrid, mi hija en Bulgaria y yo aquí en Bogotá sola con mi perrita, y pues al principio me deprimí muchísimo yo quería seguir dibujando como lo estaba haciendo allá con los Urban Sketchers Caracas y aquí por medio de un amigo pude contactar a los dibujantes en Bogotá, ya tengo casi dos años yendo a dibujar con ellos..."

Judith comenzó con los Dibujantes Urbanos Caracas luego de leer una reseña en el periódico, los contactó y a la semana siguiente se estrenó, pero no en una jornada normal sino que empezó con un maratón de dibujo. Ella no recuerda cuándo fue eso.

"...ahora que estoy en Bogotá, trabajo haciendo y decorando tortas en crema y fondant, hago postres y empanadas gallegas..."

"...pues estoy con el grupo Urban Sketchers Bogotá ya hace 2 años aproximadamente, tengo mas o menos ciento y pico dibujos de Bogotá. Nuestras salidas son cada 8 días, siempre tenemos eventos con patrimonio nacional, con espacio público, también trabajamos con trabajos de arquitectos que han revolucionado la arquitectura y sus obras las hemos visto y dibujado con detenimiento, hemos experimentado con exposiciones de alto nivel con premios para los mejores. También se hacen lecturas sobre la Bauhaus y sobre su influencia en la arquitectura contemporánea...poco a poco mi dibujo ha ido mejorando bastante. he hecho talleres sobre otras técnicas de dibujo, viendo la experiencia de otros chicos, aquí la mayoría son chicos jóvenes, me encanta andar con ellos porque tienen nuevas ideas y uno pues...eso es bueno.Ya he participado aquí en dos exposiciones con premiaciones y todo, no he ganado pero son motivaciones para seguir mejorando, y bueno sigo trabajando...en uno de esos talleres hay un chico llamado Daodrak (o eso fue lo que yo entendí)  y  él es una persona que te motiva a dibujar y dice que para aprender a dibujar hay que dibujar, y seguir dibujando todos los días, mínimo, mínimo, mínimo un dibujo al día, entonces eso es excelente y lo estoy haciendo..." 

" ...y bueno pues mi mayor motivación ahorita es hacer una exposición de Venezuela y de aquí de Colombia..." 

Pues Judith, adelante con esa exposición y todas las buenas energías para que se haga realidad!

Alba Judith is from Colombia, she has been living in Venezuela since February 11, 1978, so with the exact date and with her characteristic accent we could say she is also Venezuelan!

And it is that Judith is part of the sketchers who belong to the Venezuelan diaspora.

Judith studied in Bogotá and has a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design and Art Pedagogy. Here in Venezuela she dedicated herself to helping her husband with her carpentry business, applying her knowledge in that area. She had three children so her life between her family and her business prevented her from concentrating on the drawing that she loved so much. However in one way or another, she tried to do things that involved drawing such as stamping t-shirts with her designs. Once she was widowed, Judith was forced to dive into the carpentry, managing it, designing furniture for her clients.

"... I had to be everything, boss, worker, who directed, materials buyer, who was aware of the designs, the client and the workers, work like a donkey and that's it, but well I acquired very good experiences, from learning to make furniture, build it, paint it and handle tools that I had never handled. But I got ahead, and I worked on it for 18 years in a row and my children got ahead "

After many years in the area of carpentry, Judith decides to close it and later both she and her children emigrate due to Venezuela's political situation.

"... we did not leave because we wanted to leave there, but because the situation forced us. I have a son in Argentina, the other is in Madrid, my daughter in Bulgaria and I am here in Bogotá alone with my dog, at the beginning I got very depressed I wanted to continue drawing as I was doing there with the Caracas Urban Sketchers. so here through a friend I was able to contact the sketchers in Bogotá, I have been drawing with them for almost two years ... "

Judith started with the Caracas Urban Sketchers after reading a review in the newspaper, she contacted them and the following week it premiered, but not on a normal day but it began with a drawing marathon. She doesn't remember when that was.

"... now that I'm in Bogotá, I work making and decorating cakes in cream and fondant, I make Galician desserts and empanadas ..."

"... well, I've been with the Urban Sketchers Bogotá group for about 2 years now, I have more or less one hundred and more drawings of Bogotá. Our meetings are every 8 days, we always have events with national heritage, with public space, we also draw with the works of architects who have revolutionized architecture and their works have been carefully drawn, we have experimented with high-level exhibitions with prizes for the best. There are also lectures on the Bauhaus and its influence on contemporary architecture ... Little by little my drawing has improved a lot. I have done workshops on other drawing techniques, seeing the experience of other boys, here most of them are young boys, I love to hang out with them because they have new ideas and that's good. I have already participated here in two exhibitions with awards and everything, I have not won but they are motivations to continue improving, and  I continue working ... in one of those workshops there is a young men called Daodrak (or that was what I understood) and he is a person who motivates you to draw and says to learn to draw you have to draw, and keep drawing every day, minimum, at least one drawing a day, so that's great and I'm doing it ... "

"... my main motivation right now is to make an exhibition about Venezuela and Colombia ..."
